Darien’s history dates to 1736 and is Georgia’s second oldest city. This charming coastal Georgia town sits just off of the mouth of the Altamaha River on the local deep-water docks of the Darien River. Famous for being a gateway port for cotton and lumber in the 1800’s; then on to oystering and shrimping in more recent times.
