Hobie and GOWABecoming a member of the Georgia Outdoor Writers Association offers a variety of benefits to outdoor press professionals, not the least of which is the opportunity to collaborate and learn from each other’s experiences and knowledge.

GOWA is always excited to have new members join the organization, both at the active member level, and as corporate partners from the outdoor industry.

WHY JOIN GOWA?   There are numerous reasons to become a member of GOWA.

  1. Connect with Outdoor Industry Professionals.  GOWA is a well-respected outdoor organization within the outdoor industry.   Sporting and outdoor companies are more inclined to cooperate for articles, blogs, reviews, etc. with members of an established outdoor organization like GOWA.
  2. Improve Your Craft.   Each member of GOWA has unique talents; and GOWA’s membership represents decades of experience in the outdoor industry.  Members are happy to share their knowledge to help you become better in your professional pursuits.
  3. Opportunity and Networking.  Through GOWA’s Annual Conferences, members are able to explore new destinations throughout Georgia and network with people, tourism representatives, and companies who present excellent opportunities for content.

To qualify for membership, you must be an active professional in the outdoor journalism field, either as writer, photographer, illustrator, television or radio professional, or a professional blogger who creates stories about the outdoors and outdoor adventures in Georgia.

You should also be prepared to be active in the organization, willing to serve on a committee or as an officer of the organization from time to time.

Most importantly, you should be eager to share your experiences, skills and talents with the rest of the membership, so we can all improve the way we communicate with our audiences and encourage more people to enjoy the wonderful outdoor opportunities available in Georgia.
