For over 50 years, conferences have been hosted by cities and regions throughout the entire state…each with its own unique appeal to outdoor enthusiasts. From the mountains to the coast, Georgia has a great story to tell. And GOWA Conferences enable members to get a first-hand perspective to develop stories for future articles.
GOWA Conferences are a Win-Win for both the members and the host city. Every conference includes tours and activities for members to experience the history, hunting and fishing opportunities, cuisine, and amenities of the area.
Local tourism bureaus and businesses reap huge rewards in press exposure by networking with members to provide content and context related to their specialties. Corporate Partners also attend conferences and have time to showcase their newest products and services to the membership.
The event is capped off with the Dean Wohlgemuth Excellence In Craft Awards Banquet, where GOWA members are recognized for excellence in outdoor journalism.

Our annual gatherings encourage collaboration between CVB’s, outdoor companies and members. Through the experiences at our conferences, writers get ideas for content and stories are born.
Why Should I Attend?
If you are an outdoor writer, photographer, videographer, blogger, or book writer…GOWA Conference are one of the only places where you can expand your knowledge, develop new skills and experience a unique destination…all in one weekend.
The Annual Spring Conference brings the entire membership together to network, recognize achievements and explore the amenities and outdoor adventures of a different part of Georgia each year. While you’re there, you are immersed in the hospitality and activities that our hosts provide.
It’s always fun, and it’s always enlightening. The Daisy BB Gun Sharpshooter contest is a must-do event. Scavenger hunts take you to must-see places; and social hours let you meet the people that have great content for articles. There are usually shooting and fishing opportunities, and other adventures tailored for our group.
Plus our live auctions offer the chance to walk away with some really cool stuff. And by entering your best material for the EIC competition, you could also walk away with some extra cash in your wallet.
